Beaded Crochet Ball
This little ball may be used as a button or as an embellishment for the ends of a draw-string cord. Stuff the button with fibre fill or insert the knots on the ends of the cords into the top of the ball before making the running stitch around the circle. Draw up tight, and tie off ends.
Materials
2 strings #10 seed beads
length of #8 perle cotton
1.50 mm crochet hook
sewing needle
Abbreviations
ss = slip stitch
YO = yarn over hook
st = stitch
ch = chain
Instructions
If the beads are on strings,
make a loop and tie a slip knot in the thread of one of the strings. Place the end of the perle cotton through the slip knot loop and carefully slide the beads from the thread to the perle cotton. If the beads are loose, use a beading needle to pick up the beads and string them onto the perle cotton. Using the perle cotton strung with the beads, Ch4, ss to first ch to form circle, ch 1.Rnd 1 (Insert hook in centre of circle, YO, draw up loop. 2 loops on hook. Move 1 bead up to 2 loops, YO, draw through both loops on hook) one bead crochet st made. Make 7 more bead crochet st in circle, do not join.
Rnd 2 *2 bead crochet st in each st* around - 16 st.
Rnd 3 *2 bead crochet st in each st, bead crochet st in next two st* around - 24 st.
Rnd 4 *1 bead crochet st in each st* around.
Rnd 5 through rnd. 8, as rnd. 4.
Rnd 9 *1 bead crochet st in first st, skip next st, bead crochet st in next 2 st* around - 16 st.
Rnd 10 *1 bead crochet st in 1st st, skip next st, bead crochet st in next st*, around. - 8 st.
FASTEN OFF.
Thread needle with end of fastened off thread and do running st around circle. Draw up tight and tie off ends.
